Cooling System
A closed system that circulates a cooling liquid (such as water or oil) over its parts and a heat exchanger is used to achieve cooling. The same surface water that powers the turbines is used as the source of secondary cooling water, when heat is discharged. Nevertheless, frequent turbine shutdowns are necessary for cleaning due to problems including fouling and scaling of heat exchangers. Due to the huge income loss that results from each day of turbine outage and the additional budgetary requirement for the associated workload, this has a significant negative economic impact.
